The Mongrel Project Is Getting Some Paint! Watch How To Paint The Engine Compartment, How Not To Paint A Cage, And Then How To Pain The Cage!

Sometimes stuff just doesn’t go right on a project car build. It’s just one of those things when you are talking about building something from scratch and with mostly one off and custom parts. But even though all car builders know this, it still sucks and pisses us off. With that said, most of us figure out how to shrug it off and move forward. Matt at Urchfab is no different, and when the Mongrel project got to the paint phase his patience and understanding were tested. But he ultimately sucked it up, figured out what he needed, and took painting matters into his own hands. He started under the hood and inside the car and will ultimately move to the exterior, but his lessons during the engine compartment and cage painting are good lessons for the rest of us. And don’t for a second think that he put big money into this or has high dollar equipment, Nope, he’s doing this like most of us would, so you want to check this out.

Below you’ll see three videos. The first is about the paint he’s using and painting the underhood area of the Mongrel. The second is his first, rather unsuccessful attempt at painting the cage, and the third is his successful second attempt at painting the cage. This attempt was helped out massively by viewers who gave good suggestions that actually helped rather than people being negative nellys and just telling him he wasn’t doing it right. This is what hot rodding is all about. Check them out and enjoy.
