THE PARTING SHIFT: IN CAR FOOTAGE OF A 1963 LIGHTWEIGHT 427 GALAXIE ROAD RACER FROM DOWN UNDER!

This is one of the coolest videos we have found in a while. Normally when one thinks of lightweight 1963 Ford Galaxies powered by 600hp 427 engines the drag strip is involved. That is not the case with this awesome right hand drive model down in Australia. Competing as a vintage road racer in tiny eight inch wide tires, the big Ford looks out of place on the track, but when the green flag flies, it proves to be a competitive beast!

There is a couple minutes of lead in to this video, including an interview with the driver, but the rest is all awesome. Listening to that big 427 wind and unwind through the corners of the road course, one that features two really long straights, is perfect. Driver Denis O’brien is working for a living driving this car because it is so big and can so easily out power the rear tires! Hell, the man uses the largest diameter racing steering wheel we have ever seen!

In this video he starts from near the back of the pack due to qualifying mechanical bugs, but through the time he is one the course, he swallows up Porsches and other more “suitable” road course fodder with ablomb!

Press play to see the coolest Ford road racer in Oz!

yummmm. very very nice. Not a bad video for Aussie muscle car spotters either…plenty of Holden Toranas , GTHO Falcons, a Valiant Charger, as well as Mustangs, Pooches etc.
