(By Tom Lohnes) – After Redbull racing’s successful collaboration with Aston Martin and their bonkers Valkyrie hypercar, they’ve been playing around with the idea of making their own road car. In a recent interview, Redbull’s own Adrian Newey hinted at a road car in the works, so there’s definitely something going on here.
Yes, there could be a million-dollar hypercar that shares a name with the energy drink you can pick up at just about any gas station for about $2 on the way and it looks very promising. Aston Martin called off development of the V6 powertrain with their own Valhalla hypercar in fear that may end up to be faster than the V12 Valkyrie.
Well, Redbull’s F1 team was working on that engine so that’s probably what we’ll be seeing in this potential car. Using a tiny 1.6L turbocharged V6 paired with a few electric motors, this powertrain is basically the setup of an F1 car built for the street. That will probably make this unnamed Red Bull rocket the literal definition of “racecar for the road”
Of course, these are all rumors and nothing has been officially confirmed yet, but a real F1-based car would make quite a stir in the car world.
Awesome……..for the very few that can afford it. Still it’s amazing technology and would be cool to see come to fruition.
amatil could beat that
