Old School Video: This 1960 Plymouth Sales Film For The Valiant May As Well Come From Mars

Selling cars is not an easy job. It’s something that we could never do. Not because we’d hate to see them leave the lot, but because it’s one of those professions where you are only as good as your last day and too many bad days has you headed for the door with your head hung down.

It seems the business of actually selling cars has changed about as much as is humanly possible in the last 61 years. When you watch this guy talk about tips for interacting with customers, closing the sale, and convincing someone why a Plymouth Valiant is in their best interest, think about your last dealer experience. It probably sucked. Generally speaking, most people hate going to a dealership because the figure they’ll be pounced on, spend hours in painful negotiation, and then leave feeling swindled even if they buy the car. Good times.

The tips and approach discussed in this video are cool and old school. The Valiant was the budget model for Plymouth for many years. We’re guessing that commissioned sales people liked selling the bigger ticket cars more, but these babies were basic transportation and Plymouth moved a lot of them.

Maybe because of this video? Maybe not.
