We love stuff like this. You are looking at a 1964 Ford Falcon that was an FIA homologation car and basically a factory prototype. Using lightweight parts like fiberglass doors and fenders, this little 305ci small block Ford motivated Falcon comes in at just over 2,100lbs soaking wet. It was raced through the 1960s and driven by some of the best Ford connected factory drivers in the country. As you will see in the myriad of photos at the link below, the thing did not live the nicest of lives off the race track. Basically a storage shelf in someone’s garage for years, at least it was preserved.

The seller says that the car has been mechanically restored and cosmetically it has been brought back to look as it did when racing in the late 1960s. We love the Falcon’s brought and ready appearance and we ‘d be willing to wager that the screaming little 305ci small block engine, hooked to the T-10 four speed sounds like heaven on the straights when the driver is winding ‘er up.

We did not know that Ford produced such a Falcon and we’re guessing that this is one of just a handful that were made and one of an even smaller grouping that still exists on Earth. The asking price of $180,000 reflects the rarity of the car and this is one for the serious Ford collector and enthusiast driver. We’d be vintage racing with this car in a hot second if we were ever able to own it. Wouldn’t you?

A barn burner of a lightweight Falcon that Ford built to hammer the road courses of the country in the 1960s. How freaking cool!!!

  1. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

    Awesome!

With help from the great Alan Mann the Falcon cleaned up in racing in the UK and beyond and allegedly won the Monte Carlo rally but was disqualified by the French over some trumped up issue as they couldn’t stand to see an American car trounce all the European ones.

Ford neglected the Falcon which was after all the Mustang’s parent car – I’d have loved to see a Shelby Falcon which would have brought GT350 performance to the family man and established its dominance in sedan racing.
