The internet is a font for all things automotive, great and terrible. We got an email from pal-o-BangShift Jason Lewis who sent us the Craigslist as link for the car you see above and below with the simple note, “I’m just going to leave this right here…”. We’re thankful for the tip but we’re also a bit confused on this one because on paper it sounds like it should look like the Homer Simpson car but in the photos it doesn’t look like the circus wreck that you may expect it to be. Is this thing cool? Is it offensive to Ford guys? Is it something that would look neat when it was totally finished up? There was a lot of work put into this car at one point. It seems to be in a bit of a languishing stage at this point but when you look at how the nose and tail are grafted on, it seems like the person doing the work was a pro or a damned talented amateur.
The car itself is a 1965 Mustang. All the Mustang mechanicals are present and accounted for, the interior has been stripped out, and it actually looks to us like the guy who was making this thing was working on putting some 1957 T-Bird style opera windows in the C-pillars. Are we wrong in not immediately writing this thing off as terrible? The way the rear quarter panel winglets pick up perfectly off of the Mustang panels is uncanny and the basic proportions are another thing that seem to be about right as well. The T-bird was a short deck/long nose design and that’s the Mustang as well.
Look at the photos and tell us how dumb we are for not demanding this thing be crushed….or agree with us if you dare.
Here’s the text of the ad incase it sells:

it must be said – its not terrible….in fact the only real Mustangy /weird bits are the roof – if he’d started with a convertible you’d probably at first glance assume its a t bird. The bit that has me scratching my head is why? He obviously started with a running Mustang and a t bird in some state of repair…. so why not have a Mustang AND a t bird instead of this thing that isn’t bad, but not as good as the cars he started with…..
It’s not bad, but still not all that great.
I like some lines of it, and it’s a fair sight better than the C1500 Taxicab from last week, but still not the least bit a redeeming case for the mashup fad.
Could be the camera angle…but the change in proportion of wheelbase to body lines/features made something go wrong on the fenders. Almost as though the fenders could use some sectioning to slope slightly forward. Easy for me to say – tough to do. Rear of the car looks good though. It’s no small feat. Looks to be a pretty good effort.
