Total Brutality: Ride Along Inside This Hairy 1969 427 Corvette As It Battles Other Muscle Greatness

Total Brutality: Ride Along Inside This Hairy 1969 427 Corvette As It Battles Other Muscle Greatness

This is the Corvette of Jody O’Donnell and as you watch this video you’ll be able to tell one important thing. Jody has some GUTS. This car is a really monster and just when you think you have seen how hard it pulls flat out you realize that you are just seeing the thing flat-out for the first time. Make sure you watch the whole video because it really starts to get good around two minutes into the session. That must be when O’Donnell was happy with the temps of the tires and the rest of the car’s systems because it is at that point he lets’ the howitzer like 427 start to work.

O’Donnell is fun to watch for a couple of reasons but one of them is the fact that he drives this car one handed. Seriously, you will see him swap hands to shift and occasionally he gets two hands on the wheel when the car is really trying to get away from him but for the most part there is one fire gloved hand on the wheel an the other is there to snag it at a moment’s notice. We’re not knocking the guy because we’d have gotten through about a turn an a half before we looped the thing but this is not what they teach you in race car driver school, right?

The video was taken at “The Mitty” a famous and awesome vintage sports car road race at Road Atlanta. There are a multitude of classes and categories that run over the course of the event. When it comes to this stuff we LOVE the big bore cars like this one. The noise, the frightening levels of acceleration and horsepower, and the looks just get us right between the eyes.

Jody O’Donnell is today’s BangShifty hero. We want to be like him when we grow up!
