That Sound Tho…. Listen To This Toyota 86 Packing 9,000RPM Worth Of Nissan V8 Engine

When it comes to engine swaps, the main objective is always to make more power, right? In terms of this Toyota 86 Time Attack car, the idea was to make more horsepower and more torque than the turbocharged flat four could muster. While we have never been much for the whole Time Attack thing, we have always been into gnarly hot rods and this is one of those for sure. The engine makes 800hp with no nitrous or boost. The car is short and light and as you can see by the video, the whole package is insanely fast. Time Attack presents a basically open race track for competitors to run around as hard and fast as they can so building an all-out effort is important to be successful. This thing is not traditional but boy is it bad ass!

The engine is a Nissan VK56 which means that it is a 5.6L V8 engine. We’re guessing that this is the destroked version that was used in the Aussie SuperCar series years ago because from the factory this Nissan Titan engine is a 320hp piece (give or take) and it would take a Herculean effort to get the thing to 800hp NA from its factory roots. As much as the acceleration and horsepower impress us, the sound is freaking awesome.

Between the straight cut gears in the transmission and the engine’s absolute wail, this thing is a real bad ass mother. It takes a real driver to hammer this car and keep it out of the grass. It is evil, light, insanely powerful, and faster than greased lightning!
