Video: A 1972 Buick GS Attacks the Autocross

Autocrossing is one of the more powerful mechanical addictions that can spring up in the realm of gearheads. Attacking a tight course of cones with wild abandon is incredibly fun, and carving your time down around the course is as difficult as shaving hundredths off your elapsed time at the strip. The best part is that autocrossing is economical and in comparison to winging the motor to redline down the strip multiple times, down right easy on parts!

There are full boogie autocross machines out there from the like of companies on the order of Ride Tech, Hotchkis, and others with suspensions that some race cars envy and steering ratios that can out react an NHL goaltender. There are also tubby cars that show up just to try and hustle as hard as they can without slaying cones, and everything in between. If you have never made an autocross event, make sure you plan on participating in at least one through the 2015 season. Don’t put it off, do it!

The 1972 Buick shown in this clip seems like a nice car from out in-cabin vantage point. We dig this clip because the driver is really working the tiller to hustle the car around the course. This Buick can scoot! (Don’t mind Chad’s voice in the background. He was the announcer for this Goodguys Autocross)
