When it comes to movie cars, there are not many that can challenge the hemi Charger killing goodness of the famed Mustang fastback from Bullitt. The cop movie with one of the greatest car chase scenes ever filmed, the true hero may have been Steve McQueen for many movie goers but for gearheads the real one is that green Ford that gets the daylights beat out of it and comes out the winner in the end.

It is interesting that this particular car has captured the interest of so many, right? It is not shined up, it is not even really a legendarily fast car. It does not jump bridges or creeks, it does none of the truly high line, big stunt stuff that other famous movie cars do. What does it do right? Hell it looks right, it sounds right, and it had the right man behind the wheel.

The car featured in the video below is really great. It has dents, primer, and the right “wrong” grill in it. There’s s snarling 390, a four speed manual transmission, and the worn paint that McQueen’s car had in the movie. This video starts off with some music but thankfully after about one minute in, you get to hear the 390 being worked and that unmistakable staccato FE exhaust note rumbling through the pipes.

If we were asking for a movie car for Christmas, we’re not sure it would 100% be the Bullitt Mustang but after watching this video, we know that we’d love to spend some time behind the wheel of this car, if only to feel like Steve McQueen for a minute!

Cool car! But replace your plaid shirt with a turtle-neck sweater & corduroy blazer. 😉
