This Vintage Simplex Go-Kart With Twin West Bend Engines Is A Perfectly Restored Vision Of 1960s Fun

From a recreational activity that got people together for low key fun more than 50 years ago to one of the most popular and important motorsport disciplines in the world, go-karting sure has come a long way. The early racing karts have an amazing following and the passion of guys to not only find and restore them but also race them against each other is fantastic. Like all things of this nature, that means old karts are in demand and the more cool the more valuable they are.

The kart that is for sale below is beautiful. It’s a Simplex brand kart that uses a pair of little West Bend engines. These little monsters were among the favorites of the karting set along with McCulloch and a couple of other brands. The multi-engine karts were the hot ticket for a while and this thing likely had plenty of gusto. You can see how complex the chassis is. As compared to today’s racing karts this thing is a tractor but what a beautiful tractor it is.

You know this is a serious racing kart because of the seat. Note the side bolstering, the kick up in the front to either protect or smash your family jewels, and the chrome gas tank. This thing was likely a pretty big ticket when it was new and it is pretty big ticket now. We want this..bad.
