Are Volvo and Koenigsegg Teaming Up On A Car? It Actually Looks That Way!

(By Tom Lohnes) – What do you get when you take polestar, the most mundane of tuning companies, and combine it with Koenigsegg, who’s lowest horsepower currently on sale has 1,500 horsepower? Well, you’re gonna get something Interesting, and here’s what we know about it.

Now Koenigsegg just recently released their Gemera a four-seat hypercar powered by a 3-cylinder engine. Polestar also released the Polestar 1, a Super GT car powered by a Twin-Charged inline-4. Koenigsegg is mainly focused on building cars that will shatter the world top-speed record and Polestar is mainly focused on making normal Volvos a touch better to drive.

This new vehicle was just announced a couple days ago, so all of the information is relatively new. Polestar will likely be taking Koenigsegg’s camless 2.0-liter Twin-Turbocharged 3-cylinder that pumps out 600 horsepower and 627 lb.-ft of torque. Koenigsegg will most likely be taking Volvo’s computer systems and infotainment to spice their interiors up a little bit. Will there be a vehicle between the two? Probably, and it should be very fast.

If we factor in price between the two brands, there is a big gap. The Polestar 1 tops out at just over $200,000, and the cheapest koenigsegg is $3.5 million. Pricing could be anywhere in between there.
