Og Mandino said, “Always seek out the seed of triumph in every adversity”, and if you want a visual representation of the truth of his words, then you can thank Repsol Honda rider Marc Marquez for this bit of inspirational video. During qualifying for the 2015 MotoGP at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, Marquez’s primary Repsol Honda threw a warning light. Because a team can only use five bikes in one season, he decided to save the engine and parked alongside pit row, hopped the barrier, and sprinted fifty yards up pit row to get a backup bike. With three minutes remaining in the qualifying session and sitting in seventh place, rode his ass off to not only score pole position, but to set a new fastest lap time at COTA (2:02:135). And if there’s any doubt to just how hard Marquez is pushing that last lap, watch the bike: at least twice he comes into a corner locked up with a foot down, and at least once he’s braking hard enough to bring the rear tire off of the ground. He wanted this one badly, and it paid off not only for the pole, but for the race as well, as Marquez took first with a strong lead. Adversity was there, but that trophy is certainly the fruit of that seed of triumph.
VERY IMPRESSIVE LAP
YouTube’s copyright system makes me want to shoot copyright lawyers. Wanted to watch this but can’t because a low-life lawyer pulled the plug on it.
