Watch This Audi S1 Quattro Tear Up A Hill Climb In Slovakia – Awesome Driver In A Madly Overpowered Car

We’ve written lots of stuff about Group B rally cars here on BangShift over the years and one of the most fearsome of the “Killer Bs” was the Audi Quattro S1. This all-wheel-drive monster was a dominant force in the class that saw lives lost and FIA finally putting a stop to the madness after only a few years in existence. Happily, the cars still exist and now that they’re considered historic pieces, they’ll pop up on occasion at hill climbs and other events. This is video taken from inside one of the beastly creations that I was tipped off to by Michael Matyjasik. He saw the video and immediately thought that it was 100% BangShift approved. The good news is that he was right!

Watching the turbocharged, four wheel drive car charge up a challenging hill-climb course that has both high speed sections as well as switch back corners that are perfect for drifts and hard charges on the throttle while the car is stills sideways, the full nature and capability of this car, which is now like 30 years old can be appreciated. When you consider that drivers in the 1980s were driving these things maybe twice as fast on dirt courses lined with people through the European countryside you can get an idea as to how high the danger level was for everyone involved.

We’re going the let this video do the talking. The driver is awesome, the car is unspeakably cool, and the course is challenging as all get-out.
