Leh Keen is an accomplished American race car driver who has been pounding road courses for the better part of a decade now as a professional racer. He’s also a car guy who races and loves Porsches and while we may not exactly be Porsche devotees here we can tell you that he has one we’d saw off a leg to own. See, Keen really liked the old school 911s that guys lifted and took to rallies the world over. Since the old ones that were raced ages ago are work scads and scads of money he decided to go his own way, starting with a 1981 Porsche 911 and modifying it into a road going and off-road going version of the cars he loved from back when.
There’s a company called Elephant Racing that makes the lift kit for the car so getting the height was not the problem. He spec’d out the wheels and tires and then added some horsepower by upgrading the intercooler, exhaust, and air intake, added mud flaps, spruced up the interior and he ended up with the go (almost) anywhere car you see here.
Beyond the mechanical stuff, he stuck to the looks program by getting the right lights from Europe and modifying the factory bumpers to tuck them into the body and give the car a pre-1974 look that’s just way cleaner than it otherwise would have been. Skid plates, bash bars, and other bits were added to complete the look and the capability of the car. The interior is boss with a four point bar added for safety, the stock dash, and the classic fabric used to upholster the seats and door panels. We’re loving this German marauder!
Hey, any car that you can splash through streams with, hang sideways on rocky trails, jump curbs with, and generally make a nuisance of yourself inside, we’re fans of.
