Watch This Angry, Turbocharged, Rotary Powered Nova Lay Down Serious Numbers On The Dyno

There are a million ways to build a 68-74 Nova and virtually every one of them has been tapped. The near 600hp (to the tire) turbocharged rotary, G-Force transmission, 12-bolt way? Yeah, there’s about one of them and it is sitting right here in front of you. This car is flippin’ wild and while it sounds like a coffee can full of ball bearings at idle, when the thing is on the rollers and the boost comes in, the fury is really something else. The fact that the car has a G-Force in it makes the whole package even cooler. Because the rotary engine isn’t exactly a torque monster at lower RPM, there’s 4.86 gears in the 12-bolt rear axle.

There’s an Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump and an Aeromotive A1000 fuel pressure regulator as well feeding this thing and as you will see, it gets FED when the revs climb. The person making the video is a genius because they filmed the dyno screen during one of the pulls so you can see how quickly the power climbs when the revs head for the moon. The dyno sheet is also published at the end of this one and that’s find of interesting as well.

Many of you will wonder why someone built a car like this and that’s OK. Not everyone has to like everything and they won’t. You can hate the hell out of this car because you don’t like rotaries or you don’t like engine swaps, etc. The one thing you cannot hate on is the fact that someone applied their time and money on this car and ended up with about as unique a take on a classic American muscle car as is possible. No, we wouldn’t start out to build the car this way but we’re sure glad these guys did!

perfect for the next fart n furious movie. hate to hate but I wouldn’t care if it made a million horsepower, that noise is just horrible. Dunno about the US but in Australia these things fart around at car meets being as loud and obnoxious as possible – like fingernails down a blackboard….

Each to their own, yay for being different etc but totally not my cuppa. Nice car, if I bought it I’d trailer it away so I didn’t have to listen to it then yank out that rotary and put anything else in there.
