Young Guy, Older Car: Ride With BTCC Series Champ Andrew Johnson In A Porsche 962C, This Rules

We love when today’s modern drivers get the chance to sit in and pilot old race cars. Why? Their honest reactions about how stuff works or feels definitely validates our thoughts that the old guys were of a tougher, crazier, and all together more fearless breed. That’s not saying they were better than today’s ultra-trained, specialized, and groomed steering wheel minders, but they were different and that’s a fact.

This video sees British Touring Car Championship series champion Andrew Johnson making some laps in a late 1980s vintage Porsche 962C. He loves the car but boy does it get his attention! At one point he leans on it and the turbo spools. As the car starts to pull he lets out a pretty honest, “Jesus Christ!” By the end of the video he is clearly proclaiming the 962C the fastest car he has ever driven and saying with some gusto.

The Porsche 962 was an awesome car. Introduced in the first half of the 1980s it followed a string or pervious rippers that were world class road racing machines that locked horns on every continent with the best that the world had to throw at them. The cars were so good that some were still being run by privateers successfully into the 1990s which is about 300 years in race car terminology. Long story short, these things are four wheel legends.
