Everyone deserves a break, right? At some point after you have worked for decades and done your duty you should get some time to smell the roses and enjoy the sunset every day. That’s kind of the thing that is endearing me to this 1977 Chevrolet K20HD truck which was bought brand new to be used as a work truck and it did just that for many years before it was completely restored. We’re not talking a rattle can spray job here, we are talking a billy bad ass, frame off, and surgical level restoration. The truck has a replacement small block, a mild crate engine that spits about 260hp to the rear tires when it is is jetted for it and the timing is kicked up and delivers some pretty decent mileage when the truck is in cruise mode (as the seller says the truck is now).

It is rare for people to have vehicles, let alone working trucks this long and to have maintained it at such a high level. The seller is finally unloading the rig because of other projects and a general lack of space. There’s a few photos below but the Craigslist ad has a bunch of photos, our favorites are the ones of the truck when it was brand new!

We love the fact that the truck has the same exact brush guard it did 40 years ago and we love the fact even more that the original buyers checked all the boxes available at the time to make this thing as heavy duty as a K20 could be ordered. From the 14-bolt out back to the Turbo 400 transmission, the one ton rear springs, skid plates, and other stuff, it makes me smile.

I totally get the blue paint job and chrome wheels but if I was buying this sucker some white steel jobs with the pie tin centers would be heading onto it stat!

I would have preferred the Body as it left GM. My parents 1978 Chevy K-20 Suburban was that paint scheme and colors. The trim clip studs would take years to weld back on.
