(By Tom Lohnes) – The GMC Hummer EV is coming, and it packs some really cool features.
Stepping away from the giant, inefficient truck-based SUV and odd-looking pickup truck, this new Hummer is a giant, efficient, truck-based SUV and odd-looking pickup truck that should pack a giant punch. So, yeah.
With a rated 1,000 electric horsepower and 11,500 lb.-ft of torque, this heavy-duty truck should do 60 in less than 4.0 seconds, which is quite fast for a vehicle as big as this. How we know it is so big, is the teaser image released at the Superbowl. Lebron James, an NBA star that stands 6’9, stands next to the truck, and the Hummer towers over him. So, it will most likely be a heavy-duty truck. Also, it has GMC’s High-beltline grille and it has marker lights on the roof, so this is no Honda Ridgeline. In a new teaser video, GMC revealed that the Hummer has a “Crabwalk”mode, which will tilt the rear wheels 20 degrees in either direction to move the vehicle diagonally, which should be useful for parallel parking.
The GMC Hummer Electric Truck and SUV will be releases on October 20th this year, and should be in production by early next year.
As long as they don’t let anyone involved with the design of the new Silverado anywhere near it things may be okay.
