eBay Find: This 1949 Diamond T 306 Truck Just Needs A Little Finish Work To Be Perfection

Hey, it is Sunday and as you are reading this, I am out announcing the ECTA Spring Meet where some of the fastest hot rods in the country are hauling ass at speeds well in excess of 200 mph on the long runway here in Wilmington, Ohio. That is exactly why I have decided to find and freak out about a truck that is capable of achieving a maximum speed of 52mph. Literally, this truck can go 52. You’ll never get a speeding ticket on the highway, you’ll never have to worry about your kid street racing this thing, hell, it is practically safer than a Volvo because anything you run into will probably be destroyed by the huge steel bumper on the front of the rig. So yeah, this 220+ mph stuff rules but life in the slow lane ain’t so bad either….but that is exactly why this beautiful brute is for sale.

The current seller bought it restored from a previous owner and upgraded the electrical system, added a trailer hitch, and added turn signals to make the truck a little more safe on the road. The problem for the owners now is that they wanted to change out the ring and pinion to something more suitable for highway driving and their mechanic moved away so they apparently can’t find anyone else to do the job. The reality is that this thing is a gear vendors away from nearly 60mph! Ok, that probably didn’t warrant an exclamation point but you get where I am heading here.

Now, if you need me I will be screaming about race cars busting the double century mark today while dreaming of this truck…..I lead a weird existence.

you suppose their mechanic moved to get away from them and the truck, or just needed to move anyway?

My uncle drove one of these over the road for years. By the time he finally replaced it with a Kenworth 921 it had rolled up over 700,000 miles.

My dad had a 47 ton and a half, very cool truck but you have to be under 6′ to drive them
