Wow! This Factory 4×4 1955 Diamond T Truck Is A Rare Dream Machine For Big Truck Lovers

Wow. That’s exactly what I said when my buddy Paul tipped me off to the existence of this ad for a factory 4×4 1955 Diamond T truck. This thing is as rare an example of a working truck as you’ll ever find and while the whole thing is an oddly awesome combo of parts, none of those parts are actually that tough to get these days. I’ll explain.

For instance, this truck uses a FABCO four wheel drive system. Well it just so happens that FABCO is still an actual functioning company which means that we bet hey have some left over parts in a dusty box somewhere. The brake parts are readily available, the body parts can be had through International Harvester, and the look of the thing is so perfect, who would not go the extra mile to save it?!

The rig was one of a small order made by the telephone company, presumably for rural work. There’s a big winch on the back and apparently its main function was setting telephone poles in the ground so that the guys could string the lines. The seller has gone and acquired the proper tools for performing the job. That’s great news for someone who wants to put the truck back to original stock and then have some fun with the tools. We’d be looking for a little more power here and a little less caring a out setting up poles, but that is just us.

The seller is our kind of guy because he says that he’s like to see someone actually turn the truck into a bad ass wrecker that never really was. This dude has the big old truck thing as strongly as we do around here and that’s why we love this machine so much.

Hit the link for some interesting history and details.

I think a 5.9 cummins and some sort of manual gear box would be perfect for this. Make a wood bed and then your ready to go anywhere
