Gravelrama 2015: More Flat Drags Madness From The Massive 4×4 Party

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – If you do not shoot motorsports or outdoor events of any kind that lasts all day then let me tell you a little something.  Partly-cloudy means you will be changing settings for every other picture and sometimes for each one.  I don’t shoot on automatic modes with my camera so the ISO and shutter speed is changed constantly to adjust for changing light.  You will see when difference in my photos from Gravelrama between when I had time to make the changes and when I didn’t.

No sense in getting mad about it because there is nothing you can do.  This is the last of the flat drag photos from the 45th Gravelrama.  We tried to capture the action in a way that conveyed the feel of the event.  The white Honcho – it’s a Procharged beast.  The towel or rag you sometimes see hanging under the front of some rigs – that’s to trip the beams because often the front tires are too high to do it.  The turbo LS buggy tossed a front-drive chain mid-track on one pass and did a 180 at the exit of the course.  He didn’t hit a thing.  Not having front drive on one of these means you are not going to be able to steer very effectively.

Enjoy.
