Fresh Project Video: Hagerty’s Next Redline Rebuild Is A Clean 1993 4.0L Jeep XJ – The Work Starts Here

There’s no rest for the wicked in the Hagerty shop as just a short time after finishing their Mini build, the next subject of fun has rolled in. This time the vehicle is a 1993 Jeep Cherokee XJ with the 4.0L high output inline six. In terms of these projects this is the most modern and well equipped vehicle Davin has wrenched on. Packing stuff like air conditioning, EFI, and other modern accoutrements, it will be a fun project to watch.

As you may know, the shop that Davin works out of is in Michigan and if you live in a part of the country where salt is regularly thrown on the road, Jeep XJs are never found in this shape. They are not found in this shape in Michigan, either. The crew went and found this solid Jeep in Colorado. According to Davin, the engine is leaking and making some not too awesome noises so it will be interesting to see what he finds once it gets torn down.

This is going to be a fun one to watch come apart and go back together. The 4.0L Jeep inliner is one of the best engines made over the last 30 years. They are tough and relatively simple, making them perfect for backwoods bashing and for use by small budgeted young drivers who are looking for their first car.

We’re hoping this one gets warmed up a little as well!
