Best of BS 2017: Watching This Trucker Pull Gears With A Three Stick Transmission Is Like A Circus Act

We’ve been hammering you with high winding race cars and hot rods in our Parting Shift videos over the last few weeks so now it is time to change gears (see what we did there?) to something completely different. Instead of a slick shifting, short throwing, rough changing race transmission, we’re coming at you with some big rig love in the form of the video below which shows a driver operating a transmission with three gear levers like some sort of a circus performer. The amount of time this dude’s hands stay off the wheel is pretty amazing as he is throwing, pulling, and heaving shifters around like caber poles!

Chad and I sat watching this video while peppering each other with questions the other could not answer. We were primarily interested in getting the inside scoop on how someone learns to drive a setup like this. Obviously each lever has its own pattern to follow but it must take a good long while to get to the level of Jackie Chan-like skill this guy has. He is literally pushing, pulling, and throwing the shifters around in a coordinated ballet-like mechanical dance. The Kenworth like it has been hot rodded as well because you’ll hear the engine each time he’s making a gear change and leaning back into it. The fact that he has the eyebrow over the windshield, the three billet style shifters, and the way the truck sounds though the stacks leads us to believe that this is one fun behemoth.

There’s some “dead time” in the middle of the video that comes once the driver is in high gear but the trip to get there is really fun to watch. Why are we sitting here watching big rig videos? Because BangShift, baby!
