Pulling Coverage: The NTPA Mule City 300 Was A Blow Out Good Time (Maybe Not For This Guy)

(Photos by David Whealon/DW Photos) – Yesterday David Whealon dropped all kinds of results and knowledge on us about who won each class at the 2015 NTPA Mule City 300 held on the grounds of GALOT Motorsports Park in Benson, North Carolina. Today we are diving straight into the treasure trove of action photos that he shipped to us from the pull and there is some GOLD in these hills. Shooting a tractor pull is not as simple as it seems and you do have to have some technical knowledge of the iron to get great photos that really tell a story.

From the short wheelbase blown alky burners to the monstrous diesel powered farm tractors, four wheel drive trucks, two wheel drive trucks, and everything in between, it is really a trip. The caged fury of these things cannot be match either. When people go to their first pull they have no idea what to expect and when they see it, jaws hit the floor. It is brutal, even more so than racing. Most motorsports guys are programmed to hear a screaming engine and see a fast car. When you hear the same noise and see about 1% of the speed you can start to understand the massive loads on these engines and the driveline components. Awesome stuff!

  1. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

When is some lunatic going to make a street version of one of these “tractor rods”?

It would be mind-warpingly awesome and the Earth would shake in wonder!

Well – it’s off to my local farmyard with a ten pound note and a bag of tools……
