This Quarter Scale Grave Digger Powered By A Tiny, Supercharged Conley Stinger V8 Engine Is Sweet

The world of remote controlled vehicles is pretty insane when you get to the upper end of the scale. Most of us probably had some remote control toys as kids and those were either pieces that came straight out of a box at the store of many required some assembly to be “ready to run”. The impressive thing about an outfit like Traxxas is that their fully assembled, out of the box cars perform like the crazy expensive high end “professional” kits we used to lust after in our younger days. But all of this pales in comparison to what people in the “quarter scale” community are doing. We’re not talking little dinky 16th or 8th scale cars and trucks here, we’re talking stuff that is 25% the size of its real-life inspiration, like this Grave Digger monster truck. When you see and hear this beast you won’t be able to (first) stop yourself from grinning wildly and (second) marveling at the detail, construction, and noise that it makes.

This Grave Digger is not powered by some zooty electric engine or some high powered batteries, it is powered by a Conley Stinger 609 which is a quarter scale supercharged V8 engine and it sounds AWESOME. Now, maybe it was us but we did detect a miss or something but when the engine is running cleanly it really sings and has this crazy rasp and bark to it that you’d never expect out of 6.09 cubic inches (hence the “609” moniker). If you are thinking, “Man, that is awesome. I want one!” the good news is that you can buy one from Conley where prices for the non-blown version of the engine start at $8,257.75. You read that right. We don’t know if the guy in this video built the chassis, where he got the axles, transfer case, etc but we know that if the engine itself (with the blower) runs north of $9,000 this guy may have upwards of $20,000 tied up into the whole rig when it is all said and done.

And you though drag racing was an expensive hobby?!

We’ve never been “price” guys and we never will be. However anyone wants to spend their money is their own business and not ours. This truck is sweet and the only thing the guy needs (after fixing this transfer case, that is) is a stack of quarter scale cars to crush, a quarter scale mud bog pit to slog through, and a quarter scale stadium for have all the action take place in. Quarter scale Grave Digger guy, you are crazy but you’re our kind of crazy. This truck is 100% BangShift approved!
