(Photos by Dave Nutting) – Editor’s note: As you read this, McTaggart and I are gearing up for our 2016 Red Bull Frozen Rush coverage. To give you an idea of what this deal is all about, here’s a look back at Dave Nutting’s awesome qualifying and race day photos from the event. We had a great time and we look forward to bringing you even more awesome stuff this year. Remember, there will be a live stream on Friday. Be HERE!
Here’s some inside baseball stuff for you. When Nutting and I get to hang out and cover an event like Red Bull Frozen Rush 2015 we have a riot and our experience was no different at this event than any other. The lack of sleep, the horsing around, the breaking of each other’s chops, and then the late game addition of arch-enemy Craig Fitzgerald made this an awesome start to our coverage of events all over the country in 2015. Obviously Dave is a great shooter and the photos you will roll through below prove that. If there was one “downer” from a media perspective from Red Bull Frozen Rush 2015 it is that the media area was a pen right by the start/finish line. The location provided us the ability to get the stuff you’ll see below but it prohibited us from getting much else. In a perfect world we would have been allowed access to other parts of the track. Now, that being said, I think Dave made the best of it that he could and I think you’ll agree when you see the madness below.
As I told you yesterday, Bryce Menzies won the event and beat his mentor and last year’s champ Ricky Johnson in the final. It was an awesome exclamation point on a couple days of mountainside fun centered around 8,500 RPM small blocks, insanely studded BFG tires, and more cool stuff that we’ll be sharing with you over the coming days. Away from the race track, Nutting and I got to bash Jeeps and Land Rovers through the snowy Maine woods, spent lots of time drifting our personal whip on icy side roads, and not only cruised to dinner with but actually ate dinner with a international rallying bad ass. So other than that it was a pretty good couple of days.
Here’s the event through the talented and unflinching lens of Dave Nutting. Enjoy.
