You know him as KC from Gas Monkey Garage, the relentlessly talented paint and body guy who has been able to turn projects around for Aaron and Richard like no one else could. His full name is KC Mathieu and he’s now the guy steering the ship at KC’s Paint Shop and living out a destiny that began when he was 12 years old and painted his first car. While he loves working on other people’s stuff KC REALLY loves beating on his own, particularly the bad ass and 100% BangShift approved Frankenstein Ford truck that stars in this new video called “Red Morning”. As you’ll see, that title carries deeper meaning which we’re not going to give away but a few other things we are.
Firstly are some specs on the truck for those of you who may not know them. It is 1968 Ford F100. The truck is powered by a Ford Performance 5.0L Aluminator engine that has been braced up with a Roush blower. The thing makes 700hp at the wheels and sends it all through an American Powertrain prepared T56 transmission. RideTech coil over suspension holds the thing off the ground and in a perfect stance. Budnik wheels are on the corners, and Aeromotive fuel system feeds the engine, and there’s a Detroit Tru-Trac differential out there just getting punished all to hell in the video.
By the looks of the way Mathieu is up on the wheel, this sucker may have manual steering and that’s truly rad if it does. We enjoy things being done the hard way around here and Mathieu sure can handle the truck. He shows off with some truly beautiful drifts out there in rural Texas. The sounds that the truck makes as well as the way it sits and drives had us drooling from the first second he hammered the gas.
This is a fun video and we’ve got to say that a blown Coyote engine hooked to a six speed manual transmission in a classic Ford truck seems like the best thing ever right about now.
