Sawing A Weed Wacker Engine In Half With A 60,000 PSI Water Jet Is Awesome

Well since there is a hydraulic press channel we probably should not be surprised that there is a water jet channel that highlights the awesomeness of cutting stuff up with 60,000 psi of water pressure. In this case it is a weed whacker engine that meets its fate at the end of the nozzle and the results are pretty fun to check out.

We’re not sure if the guys are this good or if they are this lucky but to send the jet over the top of this engine and then completely bisect it to the point that they cut the piston in half it kind of amazing. It’s doubly fun to watch the guy pull the string and see the half a piston travel up and down in the half a bore remaining. It probably runs as good this way as it did the other, so no big deal, right?

Water jet cutting is pretty amazing for how precise, clean, and finished it is. The proof is here. There’s not enough heat to distort the engine which is cast out of melted beer cans and matchbox cars. The type of metal this thing is made of melts at about the boiling point of water so to have this clean a cut is really cool.

No, this is not highly education but it sure seems like fun!
