SEMA 2013: Powermaster Rolls Out New Alternators For Mopars And Starters For Fords

SEMA 2013: Powermaster Rolls Out New Alternators For Mopars And Starters For Fords

Are you a Mopar guy with a charging problem? Down in the dumps because your stock alternator just isn’t cutting the mustard and it looks like you are going to have to put some external fan ugliness on your engine? Fear not! The guys at Powermaster have the ticket with their new Chrysler alternators that bolt in and instantly provide you with enough charging power to run whatever accessories you want and upgrade to some of the modern conveniences that your electrical system didn’t have the suds to handle before. As they usually do, Powermaster is offering these babies in a few different styling variants for the guys who like stuff chromed, black, standard satin, etc. Ideally they want the piece to blend right in with your engine and perform flawlessly.

The units we saw on display were wearing their dyno tags like every Powermaster alternator leaving their manufacturing facility in the USA does. These things were cranking 160+ amps at idle and over 230 at highway speed! That is some juice, boys and girls. There are multiple pulley options as well so no matter if you need a wide serpentine style pulley or a narrow one for a v-belt, they can cover you. On that front. Did you know that Powermaster machines their own pulleys? Seriously. They aren’t buying buckets of junk from some overseas place that is machining pot metal. These guys are making their own pulleys out of bar stock right at their facility here on our shores. That’s dedication to quality and it shows in their stuff.

For you zooty Ford guys out there the company has rolled out starters to fit the modern Coyote engine as well as the 4.6 and 5.4L mod motors along with FE engines using custom headers. With the Coyote being swapped into more and more cars and needing custom header fitment for all of them, this little starter will be a welcome addition to the program of many hot rodders. You can see just how small this sucker is as it is being held on one of the photos below. It’ll handle the rigors of cranking one of those overhead cam jobs over for a long time to come. We bet it will save you some weight over stock as well and that’s a big deal for anyone drag or road racing/autocrossing their Coyote powered Ford. The drag guys love getting weight off the nose, so check this starter out if you are in the market! We also spied (and you can see below) a started designed for use on FE engines using custom headers, also for fitment purposes. Ford fans love their big FE mills and this is another great solution for anyone that is working on a project that is going deeper than just what off the shelf parts can offer.

Excellent! I was wanting to get a Powermaster for my V8 powered Plymouth Arrow pickup. I’ve been using the stock Mitsu-based alternator, and it’s just not cutting it with the big SPAL fan I’ve got on it…

I’ll be needing it for the Duster, as I’m running a Holley blue fuel pump and a Spal fan set up.

The best thing the mopar guys can do is kick the stock ammeter setup and bulkhead pass through. That and a GM cs130 alternator are one of the best things I have ever done for my car.
