If you wanted to buy a tough truck in 1950 to haul trailers with or do handwork you walked into the GMC dealer and bought one of their 640 series rigs. These things were configured in many different ways from fire trucks to tractor-trailers but this one, this one has been revived as an awesome modern tribute to those hardworking rigs of yore. You are looking at a 1950 GMC 630 series truck that has been extensively modified. The truck is on a 2011 GMC dually chassis, has a hot rodded Duramax engine under its split hood, and a really tastefully done and comfy looking interior as well. Some people are not going to dig the overall look but I do, mainly because of the extensive metalworking that was done to achieve it.

While the nose and cab appear to maintain their original width there’s been a load of work done to the fenders, running boards, and other elements of the truck. One of the things that we noticed right off the bat is that the massive Allison transmission does not protrude through the floor with a three foot tall transmission tunnel as we have seen in other builds like this. We’re guessing that the cab has been moved upward on the frame to keep the hump to being a hump and not a mountain. I get that some people will not like the wide running boards and fenders but I think it gives the truck a unique look and I’d have no shame in rolling into a cruise night with this bad boy. If the Duramax has been warmed up like it appears, the thing probably flies as well.

As the 640 series trucks were not sold as pickups, the bed is all 100% custom made as well showing off the talents of the metal guys on this project. The price is what you would expect for something with this much hand fabrication and we’re guessing that the seller needs to get as much of that $95,000 he’s asking to make it worth his while to sell. Undoubtedly this truck had a lot more than that invested in the first place.

The looks may be polarizing, but the history is cool. Love it? Hate it? Tell us below!
