Justin Oney knows me too well. Last week he sent me a link to this 1969 Dodge W300 power Wagon snow plow truck that is for sale in Colorado. The truck is one of the most beastly awesome snow moving dinosaurs we have ever seen. The seller claims that the truck was originally built and used by the US Forest Service and is is now used by him to bulldoze snow, small buildings, and livestock out of the way in the winter. The truck has 44″ tires on it that have been enhanced with chains, it is powered by a 440 4bbl engine, there’s a four speed manual transmission, less than 50,000 miles, and there’s also a 20,000lb PTO driven winch that’s part of the program as well. The best line in the ad? The simple description of this truck as being the “mother of all snowplows”.
The only downside of this truck (and we’re not blaming the seller) is the price. He wants $10,000 bucks for what you see before you and we can’t really blame him. There’s very few of these things left, especially built like this one was for the forestry service and there are likely fewer people still that even know what it is but those that do know will be lusting after it like I am.
Perhaps the best part of the truck is that after the winter is over, you can take the plow off the front (not the plow frame, but the plow itself), pull the chains, and then take this thing into the woods on the trails, onto the beach, or wherever you want to go. The rig has the power and driveline to handle whatever you throw at it and the flatbed means you can load all your junk on and have fun. Man, I am in love!
Here’s the text from the ad in the event it sells quickly:
Dodge w300 power wagon, 20,000lb winch pto driven, under 50,000 original miles, 9′ snowplow. 440 4 barrell.
Mother of all snowplows. 44 inch tires with chains. Orginaly forest service vehicle. Unstoppable!
