Trick Truck: This Dump Truck Is Parts Weird, Cool, and Fun – A Wisconsin Roadside Find

(By Greg Rourke) – I love Wisconsin. Home of the Merrill Ice Drags, Snap On Tools, and the greatest bartenders on planet Earth. It’s said that more brandy is consumed in Wisconsin than the other 49 states combined and when I’m there I do my best to contribute to that legend. Cocktails may be the reason for the creativity of some of the vehicles I’ve run across over the years. Dig this crew cab squarebody.

Whoever built this GMC must have seen the movie “Mother, Jugs and Speed,” the title characters had an abulance with eight headlights. Also note the roof, sourced from an Olds Vista Cruiser.  And that heavy duty industrial bumper.   I’m sure this was quite road trip vehicle in it’s day.
What’s up with the seemingly  dump body? The folks in Wisconsin are nothing if not practical. I’m guessing the pickup bed was swapped out when a work truck was needed.
Whenever I make the trip up north I always make a point of finding some piece of automotive art. I never have to look far.

Okay, someone needs to drag that out and get it back on the road. Fix the bodywork around the roof, buff out the paint, and give it a diesel/5-speed.
