This Insane Mash Up Of A 1988-98 And 1955 Chevy Cameo Truck Is Something Words Cannot Accurately Describe

This Insane Mash Up Of A 1988-98 And 1955 Chevy Cameo Truck Is Something Words Cannot Accurately Describe

If there is one lesson to be learned with this vehicle it is that automotive designers are truly talented people. After all, if there wasn’t stuff that we enjoyed looking it, we’d never be able to identify the stuff that nearly made our eyes bleed when we saw it, like this “1955 Cameo clone” truck which is based on a 1988-1998 Chevy pickup. BangShifter Jason Kevish sent us the link with the passionate urging that someone should buy it so that it could be properly killed with fire. While that may sound harsh, we’d only add that the fire should be the same temperature of the blast furnaces used to melt steel. It needs to be a complete liquidation at this point.

The whole “make the new car look like an old car” thing NEVER works….it literally NEVER works. From the windshield rake to the proportions, as much as you want to dress something up to look old you end up with a weird hybrid that may have some merit from one angle, does not make for a good overall package. For instance, if you were to get down on your haunches in front of this truck, the area from the bumper to the fender eyebrow above the headlights actually looks damned good. The air dam is not good but there’s a chunk of this thing that is nice. The paint? The paint it beautifully done, if not our style exactly it is well executed and seems to be of very high quality.

Things go rapidly downhill when you look at the rear of the truck and then when you see a side profile it is all bad. The thing just looks like a freak show. Stop it with the “make the new car look old” stuff. It literally never works.

Design is a matter of taste ! While that may not be my “taste” , I wish I could do body and paint like that. Wow, nice work.

I agree with you. That is serious workmanship and a lot of time and dedication. Not my taste but my hat is off to you!!!

apart from stating that the whole thing is pretty horrible, the bit that really does my head in is looking at that side profile…. the area ahead of the front wheel is actually thicker than the area behind the front wheel mainly because of that godawful front spoiler… the rest of it is pretty frikkin awful too though so at least its consistent. As others have said, the quality of bodywork and paint is actually pretty good – but I’d rather have a car painted with house paint that had good proportions than a smooth well painted turd….

The front end ? Looks like a badly distorted Checker Cab with some cheap @$&ed fiberglass spoiler tacked on

The tailgate ? A mash up of a 55 Nomad and a Toyota with way too many Pep Boys accessories stuck on with Gorilla Glue

The side view ? Goog god … has [ good ] taste…. aesthetics … proportion , balance and style gone completely out the window ? Because from the side the damn thing looks like we all died and went to the wrong place .e.g. It looks like hell

The paint ? Those flames are pathetic .. the color disgusting … and all bets are its got more orange peal than a Ruby Red

The overall craftsmanship ? What craftsmanship ? The thing was cobbled together by a half wit who has deluded himself into believing he was a craftsman

What a complete and utter pos ! As well as being completely BS … and again .. I dont mean BangShift 😉

I can’t believe I’m saying this..But I’m with GuitarSlinger on this one. He should just do a trade with the S-10 “rat-rod” guy from yesterday. Or better yet a Roadkill episode pitting the two abominations against one another.

If I were superstitious, I would have been forewarned that something like seeing this would happen to me on Friday the 13th.

it is pre 1996, and the fans shroud is deep… is that a v6 under that lid or what. The side profile needs to retract bumpers, lose the air dams, and compliment the rocker lines or lower half of doors around to the front.. I would actually like it then. It is a symbol of body on frame, modern version.. there must be hope for that imagination. I have seen trars looking better.

This is just tooooo weird, way out of proportion from side view, does look like some decent workmanship though.
