There’s a bunch of Facebook groups out there that concentrate in big old trucks. The people in those groups are awesome because they have the addiction to these things even worse than I do and that’s saying something. Case in point is this hunk of giant Ford magnificence you see before you. While details are very, very scant as to what this thing is other than a claimed 1964 Ford, we think it is an F900 and beyond that it is one of the coolest we have ever seen. Between the twin boom wrecker, the seemingly awesome condition of the monster, the 1970s style paint job complete with hand striping, a tape graphics package and more.
The ad listing is woefully short on information so we’re flying blind. We have no idea if the truck has a slush box automatic or a gear jamming manual trans in it. We don’t know if it has a big in gas engine like the 534ci that Ford offered at the time, or the available diesel engine option. The seller claims that the truck runs and drives and the wrecker unit works as well. There’s not visible rust of rot on the entire thing.
The wheelbase and the commanding presence of the massive blunt nose is what draws me to this truck and the fact that the entire truck is intact and functional like it has just been sitting and resting since the early 1980s or more. While we wish we could have seen the interior and under the hood, this rig looks so intact it seems like a perfect fit for a heavy duty truck enthusiast. Cross country road trip, anyone?!
