Ok so when is a 6×6 not a 6×6? Because this truck is essentially a 4×4 with a tag axle it does not actually count as a 6×6. It sure looks the part but with power driving only two of the three axles this thing is not quite as cool as it looks. Yes, it is a visually impactful rig and yes, it likely has some value while off-roading but it does not have the full bad assery of six wheel drive. That’s a fact. The other fact we have is that we completely lost the name of the person that tipped us off to this truck so sorry about that tipster, we owe you a beer.
It is weird how the lack of motive power to one axle can make you see things like the exo-cage, the flatbed, and the rock slider bars differently. There was obviously lots of work done stretching the frame and making stuff look right but the big question is why is there no power to that third axle? If we had to answer we’d guess money and that is not a shameful thing. Actually turning that back axle would require either parts or fabrication work that are big time expensive. The seller tries to get around it by mentioning something about tracks that transform the truck into a 6×6 but it is still a 4×4 with a tag axle turning the tracks, right?
We like the 38″ tires, we like the 22RE engine, we don’t like the automatic transmission, we don’t like the 4×4 with a tag axle being pitched as a 6×6. It hurts our BangShifty soul. What do you think? Hit the link below for the ad and give us your thoughts.

yeh I agree, even though it’d be a capable off roader theres something a bit fake about that back axle that puts you off a little ( a bit like finding out a buxom lady is silicone enhanced..)
A bit more concerned about the engine/trans…. 22R’s make about 100 hp – through a slushbox, powering 4 very large wheels…maybe thats why it aint a 6×6 – it would be gutless enough as it is without having to power another 2 wheels…
Other than Rockwells what passthrough axles are available?
