Automotive Resuscitation: Watch As This 340 Demon Is Brought Back To Life After 18 Years In Storage

Tony Angelo…drifter, Hot Rod Garage host…and Mopar guy? Yep, it’s true. That 1971 Dodge Demon 340 sitting there, in it’s nearly blinding Green Go paint, is Angelo’s first car. Damn, we all should be so lucky….and no, I’m not jealous one bit. He bought the Demon when he was fifteen, built it up into a sweet machine, and then…well, we don’t know for sure, but the Demon has been doing a great Rip Van Winkle act since 1997. Since he has taken a bit of a break from the drift world and has been hosting Hot Rod Garage solo for a bit, it seemed like the perfect time to wake the Demon up. In this episode, Angelo goes over the basics of preparing a car that hasn’t run in a while for that initial startup. From checking the contents of the fuel tank to making sure the engine isn’t locked, he goes over it all. Admittedly, the bright green A-body was stored properly, which may lead you to think that this was a bit staged. When the 340’s Holley carb starts puking fuel out of the top, you’ll know that this is for real.

Cool car, great story about still owning it all these years.

But I am a little confused, towards the end I’m sure he says he has to break the camshaft in, did I miss the part where he installs a new camshaft?

Why would this procedure be at all relevant/needed unless a new cam was installed, I mean I caught the radiator and new water pump but the camshaft swap – I must have missed.
