(In one of the most stunning videos we showed you in 2014, this skill-free truck driver manages to get himself stuck on a narrow street and instead of backing out, he tries to turn his truck around. The results are a comedic disaster that leave his truck in pieces and his career in shreds.) Lots of people have no clue about what it takes to be a truck driver. The fact is that there is a special skill set involved with piloting a vehicle that is very large, very long, and very heavy down the highways and byways of America. As a guy who has a CDL and at least some working knowledge of what it is like to be in that environment, I am completely and utterly flummoxed as to the actions of the driver in this video. To say that this is a dude who went into a full on panic and started making wrong decisions would be the understatement of the year. The video is almost painful to watch because the driver just tears his poor Freightliner truck to absolute shreds while attempting to turn his truck around in a space that is clearly, and we mean like Ray Charles clearly, too small.
It looks to us like the driver was heading down a secondary road when he was faced with a bridge too low to pass under. We have no idea how long he had been there or if he immediately freaked out and started trying to spin the truck around without getting out, surveying his options, and having a plan. It looks to us like the guy could have backed up a hundred yards or so and pretty much executed the maneuver he’s attempting with zero success in the video.
The cringeworthy/funny parts of the video are when he is tearing the tractor to shreds by blasting it through an embankment, running it into the trailer, and when he seems to think he is about to be home free and the tail of the trailer swings into a stone wall with a mighty BOOM, stopping the disaster in its tracks and forcing him, hands on his head, out of the truck. We feel bad for the truck and we do have some sympathy for the guy as we have seen young drivers get themselves into jams like this before but let’s be honest, seeing someone who knows they are tearing their junk up and they then continue to do it time after time, only making the situation worse does have some entertainment value.
Should the guy filming the truck have gotten out of his car to render aid? Would you have gotten near that truck or that guy as he was attempting this? I’m not so sure I would have even sat there as long as the person who took the video did! Good truck drivers are boring. They are safe, they think ahead, and they don’t get themselves into jams like this. Bad truck drivers provide Benny Hill levels of entertainment like this…

Well it seems the USAF’s new spatial awareness training programme didn’t get off to a good start!
that is very ugly (I have a fully endorsed CDL-tanks,HazMat,etc.), that is either a rookie or stupid driver, scary that he is on the road!!! Nothing funny here
technically, he’s no longer on the road – so we can all laugh in safety.
What was wrong with that? I think he nailed it…to the curb, the wall, most of the roadway, and just about everything else he came into contact with! lol
