The Rite Tractor Company of Montana was founded by the Curtis brothers back in the 1950s as a tractor dealer primarily selling equipment under the Wagner brand. They went into the tractor manufacturing business in the 1970s and between then about 2010 (or so) they produced a line of huge tractors for farmers working the giant farms of the western USA. Their biggest was the behemoth 750 model. This one was so named for the 750hp produced by the 12V92 Detroit Diesel that powered it. Because 750hp is only enough for mere mortals, the company wicked one of their 750s up to 850 horsepower and called it the Earthquake. This tractor, despite its massive size does a fair amount of traveling to shows and events across the country to delight tractor lovers with its massive size and strength.

If you are wondering why a farmer would need a tractor this big and powerful, consider the savings in time, cost, and efficiency if you are able to pull a plow that 80ft wide as opposed to one that is 40ft wide on a farm that is measured in the 10s of thousands of acres. Fantastically expensive to purchase, equipment like this will often be worked and worked for decades on end, long after the payments have stopped. There’s plenty of video showing the Earthquake pulling massive multi-bottom plows but it always serves as a good watermark for us to see one of these babies hooked to the good old pulling sled. This is a type of contest many understand whereas pulling a plow doesn’t really translate quite as well on the capability front.

Press play to see the tractor and hear that 12V92 Detroit Diesel churning hard!
