(By Greg Rourke) – The left and right coast guys have been regaling us with some BangShift Daily Tune Ups, perhaps a selection from the Chicago area field office is in order.
We all remember C.W. McCall from the song “Convoy”, which if you were alive in 1975 was played 24 hours a day on every radio station for about 6 months. C.W. McCall was actually the name of a character created by ad man Bill Fries, who later adopted the moniker for his song writing career. He wrote a ton of stuff in the 70’s, one of our favorites involves C.W. and Earl who are attempting to deliver a load of chickens over a Colorado mountain pass. Key word here is “attempting.”
Trivia: The one and only time I consumed enough Canadian Club to do karaoke it involved this song, which I was certain they did not have. Sonofabitch.
“Ya wanna screw that thing back on Earl?”
