We got tipped off to this wild beast of a 1979 Kenworth and our jaws hit the floor. We’ve heard of trucks sporting 500 and 600hp engines from Caterpillar and other heavy equipment makers, but a legit, 1,000hp diesel hooked to an 18-speed transmission is kind of blowing our minds. Add the fact that apparently only five of the engines that this truck has were ever installed into rigs, and you’ve got full, redline banging, BangShift.com approval.

The motor in question is a Cummins KTTTA 1150 HVT. This is an 1,150ci six cylinder with twin turbos and hydraulic variable valve timing. Apparently this engine is very popular for use in tug boats. We have no idea on the torque rating of the mill, but we’re certain it is way into the four figure range. Oh yeah, the big, honking turbos are churning out 52 psi of boost!

According to our tipster, this particular tractor is kind of a legend and is claimed to be able to spin the tires at 80mph with an empty bullrack trailer hooked to it. This thing needs to go out on Drag Week. That’s nuts.

Topping off the package is a huge sleeper compartment that is more like a motorhome than a sleeper. We think the chassis must have been stretched to accomodate the massive apartment strapped to the Kenworth’s back. You’ll be rolling in style and the best part is that you’d be able to bury any newer rig that wanted to test you on the highway.
