This 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix Is A Half Century Old And As Cool As The Day It Was Built – 428 Power!

This 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix Is A Half Century Old And As Cool As The Day It Was Built – 428 Power!

Back when Buick debuted the awesome Riviera, Pontiac’s John Delorean knew that he needed something similar. He needed a car with styling, performance, and a feel that was upscale and cool. The result of his wants and desires was the Pontiac Grand Prix. The model stuck around in the Pontiac lineup for decades and over the years its styling and well everything about the car changed. We’d argue that the restyled 1967 model year Grand Prix is one of the best looking and certainly one of the best running example of the long running bloodline. This car below is a knockout in every respect from the blue paint, the white interior, and especially the 375hp (rated) HO 428 engine under the hood. If you wanted your personal luxury car to have a Pontiac emblem on it, you ordered a Grand Prix like this is 1967.

Isn’t it insane to think that this car is a half century old? Not that it exudes some futuristic styling or anything but just the fact that when we were kids, the stuff that was 50 years old was nearly horse drawn. Now stuff that is 50 years old essentially modern. No, it lacks advanced engine management and that stuff but what you see here is a fine car that could cruise from end to end across this country and take you there in comfort and certainly in style.

The white interior of the car is cool and the Pontiac design of the dash and center console is really neat. The cockpit feel is not one you often get from cars in the 1960s but this one certainly has it. The power/economy vacuum gauge is mounted in the familiar position at the base of the center stack, the 428 emblem across the same area is cool and a reminder that you’ve got plenty of horsepower to dip your toe into if needed.

This car has the eight lug wheels that we’re freaks for, a posi rear end, and the underside of the car looks as good or better than the top. Seems to be a high quality hunk of Detroit iron to us, what do you think?

I really like the 1967 Pontiac GPs. There is a guy that frequents a local cruise night with a 1967 GP with a factory 428/4-speed. Awesome car!!
