Classic Video: This 1973 AMC Jeep Dealer Video Is Full Of Jumps and Neat Old Jeeps

For my taste the Jeep CJ5 is about the coolest one ever made. The styling is timeless (not all Jeep can say that) the performance is there and unfortunately the prices of those things continue to rise by the day. In this 1973 AMC Jeep dealer video we see the rigs being used to do all the stuff that the company wanted you know that they were capable of. From thrashing the hills and jumping through the air to hauling sacks of stuff and supplies, to cruising down the highway, the message in 1973 is the same as the message Jeep uses to sell their vehicles today. Freedom, fun, the open countryside, and the fact that you can have something to do it all.

The interesting thing here is how the Renegade is introduced and teased nearing the last minute of footage. The Renegade would be a defining model for so many years of the Jeep line and as you will here the deeply voiced narrator say, it was V8 power, cool graphics, snazzy wheels, and a generally more fun feel than the other more bare bones Jeeps in the lineup. We’re pretty sure that there wasn’t a kid in the 1980s who didn’t at some point, eve if just for a fleeting moment want a Jeep Renegade. I know I did!

So there you have it, this video really sums up the Jeep world of the early 1970s and we think it is kind of funny that very few CJ5s will ever get treated this way again. Sure, some have been hacked into trail rigs but if you have a stocker there is no way you are going to be jumping dirt berms and nearly launching your buddy clear out the side of the truck.
