Aussie Spec Ford Falcon is Dead According to Ford’s President Mulally

The Ford Falcon, long a staple of high-performance motoring in Australia, will not be produced in the current form much longer according to Ford boss Alan Mulally. Citing Ford’s new “One Ford” program, where the company will consolidate all their offerings around the world onto global platforms, Mulally said that building different vehicles for different countries is no longer a viable model.

This has to be sad news for blue oval performance lovers down under. The Falcon’s long history in racing and hot rodding is pretty well known all around the world, especially with the mass release onto television of Eric Bana’s “Love the Beast” film that documents his history and life long love affair with the Falcon he owns and races.

Australians, being the plucky fighters that they are, don’t seem quite ready to roll over on this decision yet. The leaders of Ford Australia are pretty adament that they can turn a profit selling their own model. We’ll see if they can produce the necessary volume of charts and graphs of supporting data to sway the home office in Detroit.
