An Austrian Police Officer Found Out Just How Much The Locals Loved The Speed Trap

An Austrian Police Officer Found Out Just How Much The Locals Loved The Speed Trap

Ever know a particular stretch of road that is used frequently as a speed trap? It’s got the fencerow that’s overgrown and perfect for hiding a Crown Victoria and a donut muncher who has been having a bad morning, and the second you roll by and notice the cruiser sitting there, you know you’re screwed? We often think of ways to get back at the officers for using that spot. “If that one tree wasn’t there, I’d see them.” Or, “If they’d mow their lawn more than once a year, I’d be ok.” Truth is, there’s not much that can be done to fix the situation and the officers know that.

In Austria, someone got fed up with police using a particular spot as a speed trap on the Molletal State Highway. So they rigged up a bomb using a plastic bucket, a small amount of explosive and a large amount of …uh, manure of indeterminate origin. When 58-year-old Constable Gunther Maier took his spot at the site, he tripped a fishing-line trigger mechanism, causing an explosion. Maier was uninjured from the blast, which was about seven feet away from him, but he was covered in the #2 ingredient.

We often use the phrase “when the shit hits the fan” to explain the tidal wave of bad things that are coming as a result of an action, and someone might want to translate that, because the Austrian polizei  aren’t the least bit pleased about the incident. Investigators are currently looking for the suspect(s) and if found, intend to press criminal charges against them.

Hmmm….. when speed, distracted driving and impaired driving kill more people than all “traditional homicides” put together (at least in Canada those are the figures) this article seems to applaud having shit thrown at those trying to prevent this.

Today is the last time I visit this website.

I agree BUT. In some jurisdictions (Seaside Park NJ) police will pull you over for doing 26 in a 25MPH zone IF they don’t like your looks. They won’t cite you for that but they WILL go over your car and find something they can write. It’s all in the name of paying an enormous debt from a lost legal suit against the police. And around we go!

Speeding tickets for the most part, are a tool to generate revenue for the government.. If speeding were a safety issue, police would enforce speed laws on the most dangerous roads, they do not.

    Poo ’em all!

Perhaps a less explosive solution would be to simply spread the “product” in the favorite spot so that all the tires would be sufficiently covered so as to make an uncomfortable and embarrassing day for the officer. (Not that my friend and I ever did that.)
