The Trans-Cammer 1970 Mustang to be Included in Gran Turismo 5

The Trans-Cammer 1970 Mustang to be Included in Gran Turismo 5

The killer “Trans-Cammer” 1970 Mustang that made a major splash at the 2009 SEMA show was chosen to be one of the vehicles featured in the next version of the smash hit racing video game Gran Turismo. This is cool news because it’ll put the bad ass Mustang in front of millions of kids who’d otherwise never see it.

We saw and drooled over the car at the SEMA show and it is a stone cold killer. The black paint looks about 13 feet deep, the custom fabrication work throughout the car is amazing and the 427ci SOHC motor just fills out the whole picture.

The car has been under construction for about five years and car builder Philip Koenen is doing the project for a client who lives in Hong Kong. A team of ten people from Japan came to Koenen’s shop to take all the measurements, record sound, and do whatever else video game designers do so they can recreate the car.

This was one of our favorites at the show and probably ranks as our favorite (non race car) Mustang of all time. The story of how it made it into the game is great as well. Here’s a story from Phil’s local newspaper.
