BANGSHIFT QUESTION OF THE DAY: COBRA JET, CHALLENGER DRAG PACK, OR COPO CAMARO?

BANGSHIFT QUESTION OF THE DAY: COBRA JET, CHALLENGER DRAG PACK, OR COPO CAMARO?

With all three of the American car manufacturers offering a high performance drag race package car these days (yeah, the COPO is a “concept” officially, but c’amon people!) we’re curious to know which one BangShifters would favor is given the choice. The Cobra Jet was the first to market, the Challenger offers the most powerful naturally aspirated engine, and the COPO has all the right pieces to make Chevy lovers week in the knees, so which one do you want?

All three of these cars are monsters, make no mistake about it. The incredible performance potential of the blown modular engine in the Cobra Jet has seen the car through many race wins, including the US Nationals, where Roy Hill did it last year. Mopar lovers no doubt love the fact that the Challenger has the best styling of the group and also the largest motor with the available V10 and the Chevy boys are licking their chops thinking that the late entry of the COPO into this market was nothing more than a research period to allow GM engineers time to build a car capable of wrecking their cross town rivala.

Easy question here: Which would you choose? Drag Pack Challenger? Cobra Jet? COPO Camaro?

Challenger fiirst, Cobra Jet second, and I’d sell the COPC to put imore money into the Challenger or the Mustang.

I didn’t think CJ’s came naturally aspirated, and I sure as hell didn’t think one would be able to run 10’s with a 5.4.

    I’ll go with the Challenger.

Well …. the Challenger does have the V10 but its a pig in the weight department . The COPO Camaro is the COPO that isn’t , so nix that one as well .

So its gotta be the Cobra Jet hands down for the track as well as the BOSS302 / Shelby’s for the street
