BANGSHIFT QUESTION OF THE DAY: IF SOMEONE HANDED YOU 100K TODAY FOR CAR STUFF ONLY, WHAT WOULD YOU BUY?

BANGSHIFT QUESTION OF THE DAY: IF SOMEONE HANDED YOU 100K TODAY FOR CAR STUFF ONLY, WHAT WOULD YOU BUY?

So I am all hung up on this awesome old truck I found for sale on eBay this morning. So hung up that I got to thinking about if there was anything else on this Earth (car wise) I would want more for $100,000. I really don’t think that there is. I know I am in the small minority with my whole elderly big rig fascination so I’m sure there’s something different on your mind to buy with a six figure windfall.

Market conditions have changed so much for car stuff over the last four of five years, this imaginary hundred grand will go a lot further than it did during the era when virtually every car at Barrett-Jackson rolled over the stage for a hundo or just slightly less.

Which way would you go? Some crazy late model performance car like a ZR1? A couple killer “almost finished” project cars? A race car? Massive ancient big rig? Ok, that’s probably just me. I get it.

If given a $100,000 to spend on car stuff and car stuff only, how would you spend it?

A cool hundred grand!

1963 1/2 R code Galaxie. I’d use the rest of the money to do a “day two” deal to it, headers, Cragar SS wheels and such. What’s left would go for gas.

We had a Powerball jackpot last year of over $500 million. I bought one ticket. The winnings would have gone to purchase the land Oswego Drag Raceway was on. I know I’d never get a track running there, but I’d restore it to just as it was, open a restaurant on the grounds, and have the most awesome cruise night destination ever. I didn’t win.

Tools first of! A decent sized lathe, DRO equipped rotary table for my mill, TIG setup, tubing bender, a whole bunch of cutters and tooling for the mill and lathe, a parts washer, and lots of storage shelves.
Beyond that it’s mainly parts for the existing projects I have and a new DD.

If you made me put it all into one vehicle…. That’s a tough one (though If you let me keep the change for gas, mainteance and insurance it gets a bit easier)
Either a custom built protouring 92 Camaro with a turbo LT5 DOHC V8, full on street and road course suspension, sound deadening, and car seat anchors.
Or a 2006 GMC 2500HD crew cab short bed with lots of durability improvements like coolers, skid plates, brush gaurd, bed liner, and an underseat combination toolbox gun case.

I would buy a new 5.0 and a new Raptor and be happy as a pig in stink….

I am over the old car thing for now.

I would fing a orginal 1969 1/2 Road Runner–sit the orginal engine aside and have a motor built for the F.A.S.T. drags—Or 1966-67 427 Fairlane/Comet with the same treatment.

    Where do I sign ??

21′ Schiada River Cruiser (hot rod boat) and my shop in the backyard. Then start on the TT 6.0 LS for my 87 GMG SWB.

I’m almost ashamed to admit this, but, I have the Montego towed over to Fooses shop in Huntington Beach and tell him this is what I want. Call me when it’s done.

Use the money to build a fully equipped garage, then start on my late brothers ’29 Model A Tudor on ’32 chassis.

I’d build a 100′ X 100′ underground garage in my back yard to hide the stuff I already have. I don’t need any more projects right now.

66 427 Ford Fairlane or a 55 2 door Hardtop like I had in High School (in the 60’s). Had both of these cars in high school. Now if I could only get the same girl back

Alpine White ’66 Baracuda with under-bonnet supercharged multi-point injected alloy block slant six plus full handling kit including sway bars, rack and pinion steering, dana diff and four wheel disc brakes, riding on 16″ steelies (mini-tubbed rear end).
all converted to right hand drive, to make it easy cruising down here in Aus.

and a matching slant six slingshot dragster with triple webers, if i had enough left over.

yup, i just been waiting for you to ask.
