While I was driving back from Wilmington, Ohio a couple days ago I saw a Chevy truck with a big chicken head on it promoting some sort of local restaurant driving down the highway. Being later on in the evening, I was unable to get a good photo of the truck, but it did get me thinking about how lots of companies have used promotional vehicles over the years to get their name out of make an impression on the public. Obviously a vehicle like the famous “Weiner-mobile” has been so successful that generations of people remember and know it. Other efforts were not so successful, but are certainly cool as hell in our eyes. I have placed two of them below.
The Zippo car has been restored and I am pretty sure is on display at the company HQ or is otherwise in museum care. The Lifesavers car is one I had never seen before I started trolling around for photos of neat promotional machines. The big barrel shaped body appears to be draped over a Ford chassis, at least that’s what I think from the front fenders we can see from the side.
We want to know what you think the coolest promotional car or truck in history has been or is. Open your mind up because there have been lots from the ones shown below to Tyrone Malone’s tire smoking Bandag Bandit big rig!
BangShift Question Of The Day: What’s The Coolest Promotional Car Or Truck Ever?
The Oscar Myer wiener-mobile.
Big Red, the Save Mart hot rod shopping cart. May also be the tallest promotional vehicle. Even has a FB page.
Yep the Weiner Mobile. Then the Zippo car and then the Hershey Kiss Mobile.
The MOXIE LaSalle!!!!!
It had a wooden horse mounted in the middle of the car, and the operator sat on the horse and drove from that position.
There’s one at Clarks Trading Post in Lincoln New Hampshire.
GM Future Liner(s)
I saw a Chicken head El Camino last fall at a Phillips 66 in Doolittle Missouri! My personal favorite promo vehicle? The different Hurst Golden Shifter vehicles that Linda Vaughn hung on to while making laps at all the different racing venues!
