We realize that this kind of an odd question because like guns, a car in itself is not inherently dangerous. It is when said car is placed in the hands of a human being that all bets are officially off. That’s the premise behind this question of the day which is asking a simple question that we think has some complex answers. There are lots of amazing cars in the world that are fun to drive, have gobs of power, and can really only be operated at their intended level by people with real acumen and skill behind the wheel. There are other cars with lots of power, not a whole lot of chassis refinement, and barely enough manners to allow mere mortals to drive them down the road. First generation Dodge Vipers were known as ferocious cars that could literally “flip the script” on a driver in the blink of an eye (hey, we know a dude who put on on top of a wall upside down during an event in the 1990s). Like the Shelby Cobras that they were known as the modern iteration of, these things got a reputation for having a hair trigger.
Old Porsches were known all over the world for their famous ability to snap oversteer, there are a lot of classic muscle cars that had engines to die for and braking/suspension systems that were more than happy to kill you. We could talk about the Porsche 550 Spyder that James Dean died in, the Pintos that exploded under rear end collisions, the Fisker Karmas that burst into flames randomly over the last few years, and on and on and on. We want you to go whole hog and peg the meter here. We want to know what car seems to have been designed with the intention of actually killing the operator from the factory.
